Kelp study by Hugo

Hugo was listening to the reading story about the garden under the sea, and as he was always wondering what are those little poppy pockets on the seaweed, he decided to found out more about it, and watched national geographic kids. Then he drew what he remembered. Picture below.

  2. Hi Hugo,

Well done on following your interests and questions and finding out the answers. You've taught me that those poppy pockets are called and that they are to keep the kelp afloat. I really enjoyed your sharing and I wonder what else I will learn when I see your next post!

  3. Mōrena Hugo,

wow this is a very detailed drawing, well done on labelling the different parts of the seaweed. I am glad you are enjoying our inquiry this term. I don't know a lot about kelp but I have done kelp swimming at Wainui, when I was on school camp. Next time you could write a fact sheet and use the picture to go with your report on kelp, I would love to read that.
What is your favourite thing about the ocean?
