We have started our learning about Advent. We read the book the 12 Days of Christmas, because we are learning the song.
The pictures were beautiful, check out a couple of the pages below.
Kia ora and welcome to our blog. We are a wonderful group of Year 3/4 students at a small Catholic School near the beach in Ōtautahi, Christchurch. We have two great teachers called Miss Hart and Miss Esselink. We hope you enjoy reading all about our learning.

Bringing the world to NBC! On Tuesday we had an international evening with our school community.
Each of our parents contributed a meal for the evening and they were all spectacular.
Here is what our Room 9 table of Brazil had:
We have been learning about the country of Tonga.
In Room 8 we learnt that they have a traditional dance and art. We also learnt that the tapa cloth is called Ngatu and its patterns are based on nature. Our favourite thing we learned was the lullaby 'Ana Latu', it is a lullaby about two people being in love. Here is the version we learnt.
On Thursday we had Jeff in the class from ASB GetWise which focuses on financial literacy for children. We talked about identifying needs and wants and learning to save. Learning these things at a young age can help set us up for the future.
On Friday the 30th of October, we celebrated All Saints Day. It is usually celebrated on 1st November and it is all about pray to the saints and for all those we know who have passed. We dressed up as a Saint such as St Therese of Lisieux, St Francis of Assisi, Euphrasie Barbier, St Aidan, and St Christopher, St Joseph. We went outside and played rob the nest, cat and mouse with the parachute. We also drew what a Saint was like and a place that made us happy. We felt prayerful, happy, and chill because of the day.
What do you know about All Saints Day?
See the photos below of our celebration day.
We have been learning about Brazil because it is our International Evening country focus that we will be sharing in Week 6. Each class is focusing on one/two countries as we are bringing the world to NBC.
So far we have looked at researching about the food, the Amazon Rainforest, native animals and music. We were even lucky enough to have Ana (Tristan's Mum) to come and talk to us about her experiences and knowledge being from there.
We look forward to learning more to share in Week 6!
