  1. Hi Spitfire Sam,

I never knew why spitfires were created, thank you for your facts. What else do you know about spitfires and aeroplanes? Miharo (excellent) you have done well with your story, especially describing what it would feel like and how you would feel. Next time you should should write a fact sheet on spitfires so we can learn more facts, you could even draw a diagram and label the different parts of the plane. Have you ever made a model aeroplane?

    1. Hi Miss Hart,
Did you also know that Spitfires have a 240 horsepower engine? Also, my great grandmother used to fly Spitfires in the War (according to my grandpa!!). My grandpa was in the Navy. He was on a very huge ship with aeroplanes on the deck and huge guns and everyone on the ship had a machine gun. I will work on a fact sheet over the holidays and post a picture of my Hurricane model aeroplane.

    2. Kia Ora Sam,

no I did not know that about spitfire engines. That is very cool that your great grandmother flew spitfires, my great grandmother used to listen on the radio to hear when the German's were coming to Britain. My grandfather was in the Navy also, he used to have to work the guns to shoot down enemy planes and hand out food to Russia during the war. I never knew how much we had in common. I am looking forward to your fact sheet and model aeroplane.

  2. Hi Sam,

Wow well done, I did not know about Spitfires. Where did you learn this information? I like how you gave your feelings/opinions at the end. You could even design your own aeroplane.

    1. Hi Miss Esselink,
I learnt this information from my dad because his grandma flew a Spitfire in the War! Also, I watched a programme about Guy Martin finding a Mk1 Spitfire on a beach in France. They dug it out and rebuilt it and flew it. It was very exciting and amazing to see it built. It took them two years I think.
